Plot
[edit | edit source]Prelude/First Battle
[edit | edit source]Komai Sumire, a Lily of Ambrosia Ladies’ Institute, visits the tomb of her late mother, Komai Sasara. Praying to her spirit, Sumire tells her mother of how her mentor, the Kuramayama researcher Nakazawa Kumi, told her of how one of their test subjects, Shiba Tomoshibi, had been the one to kill her after Sasara attempted to arrange her escape. Promising to avenge her mother’s death, Sumire vows to find and kill Tomoshibi by whatever means necessary, and on Kumi’s instruction, Sumire sets off to find her at Odaiba Girls’ School.
Following the discovery by St. Mercurius' Air Platoon that the dormant, S-Class undersea Nest present at the Island of Izu Oshima has become active, a mobilization of Tokyo's most prolific Gardens, including Odaiba Girls’ School, is announced in order to conduct their neutralization. Odaiba Instructor Akira Blanton explains that shortly after this discovery, the equally dormant S-Class Nest in the vicinity of Yurigaoka Girls' Academy had also begun to show signs of activity. Because of the two Nests' presence, Tokyo had become riddled by a great amount of Caves, leading to the continuous deployment of all of Odaiba's Legions.
Legions Hronesnæsse and Heorot Saints are watched by Inaba Mayumi while they deploy to neutralize a Cave that formed in their territory, and commenting on the Nests' awakening, the Instructor remarks that it is a result of “their plans” being set in motion. Mayumi once again reaffirms her desire to prove the validity of her research at Kuramayama, hoping that “Ms. Nadeshiko” will be able to witness it.
Prologue
[edit | edit source]Sumire successfully enrolls into Odaiba, where she is promptly introduced by Akira to the heads of Hronesnæsse, Funada Kiito and Funada Ui, and of the Heorot Saints, Tsukioka Momiji and Kawamura Yuzuriha. Noting how Sumire had been a distinguished Lily during her time in Ambrosia, Akira hopes that she'll be able to join one of the two Legions, and Sumire is particularly excited at the prospect of joining Hronesnæsse, appearing very impressed by Ui and Kiito. Because of this, Akira appoints Sumire to join Hronesnæsse in training for a trial period, so that she has the opportunity to familiarize herself with its members and gain their approval. Kiito and Ui are in agreement with Akira's decision, but Yuzuriha is notably displeased.
Sumire is immediately brought to one of Hronesnæsse’s routine training sessions, and as Yuzuriha and Tsukioka Momiji watch her performance, Yuzuriha points out how unusual it was for her to so eagerly choose Hronesnæsse over the Saints, and presumes her to have ulterior motives. Momiji is equally skeptical, and invites Yuzuriha to join her in investigating Sumire’s circumstances. At the end of their training session, the notably strict Igusa Subaru is impressed by Sumire’s performance, and the Lily remarks that she was able to perform well by following Tomoshibi’s lead, appearing awestruck by the Lily. Imamura Yukari is particularly bothered by Subaru's fervent praise of Sumire, and repeatedly tries to gain the second year's attention.
Meanwhile, Yuzuriha and Momiji discuss Sumire’s arrival with the Saints' second years, enlisting their help to discover more about the Lily. Momiji tells her Legion members of the reservations she harbors towards Sumire, noting how she was already a highly appraised Lily during her time in Ambrosia, which is known to be a highly prestigious Garden of West Japan. With knowledge from her sister, also a Lily of Ambrosia, Momiji remarks that it is unheard of for students to leave the Garden out of their own volition, and presumes Sumire's departure was caused by pressing circumstances. Sharing her concerns, the Saints' second years agree to help Momiji with further investigating Sumire.
As Hronesnæsse’s training session finally concludes, Subaru remains impressed by Sumire’s ability to keep up with her rigorous curriculum, and joyfully invites her to their review session, once again prompting Yukari’s jealousy. Speaking with Hronesnæsse's first years, Sumire once again expresses her awe at Tomoshibi's performance. Kozue West invites her to join them in the first years' tea party later, and Sumire agrees, being eager to join them after learning that Tomoshibi will be there.
Act Two
[edit | edit source]While Hronesnæsse conducts their review session, the Saints' first years begin the tea party by themselves. Hayami Katsura is particularly nervous, having been tasked by Momiji with covertly probing Sumire. The Hronesnæsse’s first years soon join them, and Kozue notes that Subaru had been unusually forgiving in their review session due to her awe at Sumire, a remark that once again causes Yukari to be depressed. When asked why she so quickly chose to join Hronesnæsse, Sumire responds that it was merely out of intuition, and asks the first years to tell her more about the Legion so she can be more informed when making her final decision.
Hronesnæsse subsection
[edit | edit source]Yukari begins to tell Hronesnæsse's history to Sumire, recalling how theirs and the Saints' second years previously integrated the Funada Reserve Corps, as well as Kiito’s past as Odaiba’s Student Council president, noting how the “power-ranked” training regimen she forced the Garden to adopt caused the Reserve Corps’ members to be severely worn down, particularly Momiji and Yokoyama Azusa, who at the time had not fully developed their abilities. Because of this, Kiito's policies were met with strong opposition by Momiji and Azusa's close friends Yuzuriha and Hishida Haru, but in spite of it, she refused to withdraw them.
The first years explain that Kiito’s reasoning had stemmed from her and Ui’s past with Nagasawa Yuki. The three of them had once been inseparable during elementary school, however, their relationship completely crumbled when, during Yuki’s first year of junior high, the trio suddenly found themselves surrounded by a swarm of Small and Mid-class Huge. Yuki struggled to defend the twins from the Huge’s advance as her Magie reserves began to run low, and in her panic, she left by herself in order to retrieve them backup. As such, the twins had no other choice but to fend for themselves, and eventually, Kiito suffered a severe head injury while attempting to protect Ui from an incoming attack. Though the pair succeeded in returning to the Garden, Kiito and Ui grew to feverishly loathe Yuki for abandoning them, with Ui particularly warning her to “not ever show yourself before us again”.
Devastated, Yuki began to deploy to random battles in hopes that she’d eventually be killed in combat, with Yukari pointing out that even after joining the Heorot Saints of the time, she constantly struggled to fight as part of a team again. Kozue explains that the ideals Kiito came to hold were driven by her desire to prove herself superior to Yuki, however, the Garden's Lilies staunchly disapproved of her intense and forceful methods, and within the Student Council, only Subaru fully shared her vision. Despite the pleas of even her closest associates such as Ui and Kawabata Hotaru, Kiito still refused to roll back her policies, and as such she was brought into direct conflict with the other Student Council members, with Fujita Asagao at the forefront of the Council’s internal opposition.
Asagao and Kiito eventually had a complete falling out, causing Subaru to be torn between her allegiance to Kiito and her old friendship with Asagao. After Kiito was ultimately forced to resign from her position as Council president, Asagao hoped that Ui would take her place, but she refused to do so, insisting on staying by her sister's side. Instead, Ui entrusted Asagao with the role of Council president, while her and Kiito decided to leave Odaiba entirely and embark on a travelling journey across Japan and beyond for their first year of high school. Eventually, Momiji and Yuzuriha, now the leaders of the Heorot Saints, took over as the heads of Odaiba’s Student Council upon graduating from junior high, though despite their attempts, they failed to convince Hotaru to join them, as she wished to be by Kiito's side once she returned.
Kiito and Ui returned to Odaiba in their second year of high school, being followed by Tomoshibi, whom they met in their travels. With all of their former positions now filled by other Lilies, Ui proposed that they instead form a new Legion upon their return, but though Asagao had agreed to join out of her adoration for Ui, her resentment towards Kiito remained, and because of their tensions, Subaru, who was now a member of Odaiba's Light Wall Defense Force, was hesitant to join them. In their search for Legion members, Kiito and Ui were once again approached by Yuki, who wished to reconcile with the twins and fight by their side once again, and though their reunion briefly revived the twins’ hatred towards Yuki, their experiences while away from Odaiba had led them to mature past their blind hatred and properly understand Yuki’s position. And so, the twins agreed to welcome Yuki into their new Legion, and in order to cement their rekindling, the three Lilies performed Odaiba’s Blood Oath ritual between themselves. Though she remained distant towards Yuki, Ui asked that she "do not ever betray us once again"
The first years turn to explaining the Blood Oath to Sumire, telling her of how it is a binding pact taken between two or more Lilies that unifies them in a familial bond, with its ritual involving all Lilies consuming a concoction imbued by their combined Magie, or traditionally, a drop of each of their blood. Yukari points out how Subaru and Asagao had already taken the oath between themselves soon after entering high school, and after Subaru failed to recruit any members from the Defense Force, Asagao was finally able to convince her to join Kiito's new Legion. Kozue, who greatly admired Asagao, volunteered herself and Yukari to join as well, noting the latter's affection towards Subaru, and though they finally reached the required nine members, Kiito and Asagao’s discord remained unresolved, much to Subaru’s displeasure.
When asked on a potential partner to take the Blood Oath with, Sumire is still unsure, and in turn asks Tomoshibi on who she'd choose, to which the Lily predictably responds that it'd be Kiito. The first years take the opportunity to inquire Tomoshibi on the origins of her affection for Kiito, and she goes on to explain how they've met during her time living in the mountains of Kyoto, where, with hazy memories of her time in Kuramayama, she had adopted a nigh-animalistic lifestyle. The pair engaged in a duel in their very first encounter, and though Tomoshibi was able to injure Kiito’s shoulder, the Odaiba Lily was still able to escape her grasp, leaving Tomoshibi overjoyed at finally finding herself a worthy opponent. Greatly embarrassed by her defeat, Kiito was determined to right her mistake, and set off to find Tomoshibi once again for a rematch. After an incredibly fierce duel, Kiito was eventually able to bring Tomoshibi down. However, this only led her to become further enamored by Kiito’s strength. Put off by the intensity of her affection, Kiito attempted to leave Tomoshibi in the mountains, however, her passion drove her to relentlessly pursue the Odaiba Lily, eventually following Kiito and Ui back to Odaiba.
Hearing Tomoshibi's story, Sumire reveals that she had also been taken in by Kuramayama, as she was once offered treatment after she became physically unable to fight, making her a Boosted Lily as well. She explains that she had been admitted after Tomoshibi’s escape, and as such was in the care of the Garden’s new moderate administration. The school bell goes off, interrupting their conversation, and the first years end their tea party. Frustrated at their failure to obtain any information from Sumire, the Saints' second years decide to continue their investigations by themselves.
In her alone time, Sumire reminisces on her first meeting with Kumi, recalling how in her time grieving her mother’s death, Kumi was the one to tell her that Tomoshibi had been the one to murder Sasara, being told that her mother was manipulated by the Lily in order to facilitate her escape. Sumire was furious to learn that her mother’s good will had been abused in such a way, and Kumi proposed that the two of them take revenge on Tomoshibi together, though pointing out that in order for them to succeed, Sumire would need to be made into a Princess of the Huge just as Tomoshibi was. Sumire fully agreed to Kumi’s plan, determined to spare no expenses in order to avenge her mother's death.
Act Three/Battle Prelude
[edit | edit source]Hronesnæsse and the Saints are deployed together in order to neutralize a particularly immense Great Cave. Yuzuriha notes it to be similar to the Great Cave they've encountered during the Odaiba Counteroffensive, and the Lilies theorize that could potentially lead to the formation of a Nest within Tokyo. With the Coast Guard working to neutralize the other Caves within Odaiba's territory, Akira has Sumire join Hronesnæsse as they move with the Saints’ to destroy the Great Cave, with Yuzuriha noticing that Momiji still appears bothered by her presence.
As the two Legions begin fighting their way to the Cave, Kiito shows her own concerns about Sumire, and noting her tendency to constantly observe Tomoshibi, she presumes that Sumire might be connected to her past at Kuramayama. Noticing her suspicions, Momiji approaches Kiito, revealing her discovery that Sumire had suddenly disappeared during her second year of junior high only to return by the end of her third, with her only known records of this period stating that she had been undergoing recovery at Kuramayama. Kiito is particularly bothered by the fact that she chose to enroll into Odaiba after being welcomed back into a Garden of the prestige of Ambrosia.
As they talk, Kiito and Momiji are interrupted by Akira, who explains to them that it is likely that Sumire's disappearance was linked to her mother’s death. Learning that her mother was a researcher at Kuramayama, Kiito panics at her possible connection to Tomoshibi, however, Akira advises the two Lilies against pursuing the matter further, noting that they cannot be certain of what truly transpired during that time. Akira reveals that she was the one who approved Sumire’s transfer to Odaiba, declaring that regardless of her motives, she deemed her a beneficial Lily for the Garden. And so, the instructor asks the Lilies to leave Sumire’s matter in her hands, and instead focus on destroying the Cave.
Meanwhile, Sumire is contacted by Kumi, who is ecstatic to learn that she succeeded in infiltrating Hronesnæsse. In spite of this, Sumire appears hesitant, telling Kumi that she began aspiring to truly become a member of Hronesnæsse, as she is sincerely happy to fight in a team again after her time in Ambrosia. Though puzzled at her change of heart, Kumi assures Sumire that she’s free to remain in the Legion once she succeeds in disposing of Tomoshibi, and encourages her to seize the opportunity to kill her once Tomoshibi is away from the other Lilies, as she could pass it off as an accident.
At the same time, Tomoshibi once again wallows in her memories of the researcher who set her free, and in doing so, she hallucinates Mayumi, who yet again begins to taunt her for having killed her once, as well as having murdered all the other researchers at Kuramayama. Tomoshibi recalls the words Mayumi left her with, that “Odaiba has many possible Lilies to be made into Princesses, so she’d soon find herself a partner of her own”, and that once she did, Tomoshibi would meet her again, though using a different body.
Mayumi's hallucination sends Tomoshibi into a breakdown, and she is found by Sumire, who quickly figures she had been overtaken by her memories of her time at Kuramayama. Sumire tells Tomoshibi that she is aware of the inhumane experiments conducted by the Garden previous to her own time there, and Tomoshibi explains that she was a subject of the 13 Sisters Project, an attempt at creating a whole Legion of Princesses. She details that while the Lilies who wielded results were treated fairly, herself and many others were deemed failures, and as such were repeatedly subjected to torturous and unsafe Boosting experiments. As a result, she had repressed most of her memories of her time there, with the one exception being the one researcher who treated her with compassion. Tomoshibi tells of how she had been the one to tell her of “how beautiful the big blue sky was”, a remark that particularly upsets Sumire. Frantic, she asks if Tomoshibi remembers her name, however, the Lily responds that she never had the chance to learn it, though she does appear to remember her mention of a daughter.
Tomoshibi goes on to explain that the researcher ultimately arranged for her escape out of fear that she wouldn’t be able to survive the next round of experiments, but that doing so ultimately led to her death. Upon witnessing her lifeless body, Tomoshibi fully lost control of herself, and once she came to her senses, she had finally attained the power of a Princess, which she now hopes to use for good to honor the memory of the researcher, and of all the Lilies that lost their lives in that experiment. Sumire commends Tomoshibi for her resolve, telling her of how her mother had been murdered, and that she desperately wishes to kill the one responsible for it. Remarking how both of them lost someone they held dear, Sumire wonders if she’d be able to find peace by staying by Tomoshibi’s side. In response, Tomoshibi tells Sumire of how she was finally able to find a home with Hronesnæsse, and hopes that the same can be true for her. As Tomoshibi leaves, Sumire breaks down in tears, incredulous that Tomoshibi can sincerely wish her well after taking the one she loved away from her.
At the same time, Mayumi recalls her memories of Sasara, lamenting that while she was initially a valued researcher, she was ultimately "led astray" by her bonding with their test subjects. She recollects how Kumi, who was a colleague of Sasara, had directly confronted her on their experimentation methods, as she argued that there was no need to subject their test subjects to such needless suffering. Mayumi, however, insisted that they would only be able to become Princesses by being pushed beyond the limits of their physical and mental abilities, noting that Ms. Nadeshiko herself had approved of their methods. Kumi insists on reasoning with Mayumi, but the latter strongly rebukes her attempts at suggesting a more humane approach to their experiments, threatening her life as well as her family's, should she insist on her insubordination. As Kumi leaves horrified, Mayumi wonders if she’d be more useful to her once she’s dead.
Second Battle
[edit | edit source]Akira informs the two Legions that she was able to identify the Master of the Great Cave as the Cihuateteo, an Ultra-class Huge previously defeated by Hronesnæsse and the Saints during the Niigata Recapture. She explains that the Cihuateteo was able to survive by fusing with the surviving core of the undead Gigant-class Giant Zombie. Now employing an army of Small-class Huge imbued with the Giant Zombie’s resurrection ability, Akira predicts that they would likely exhaust themselves fighting the horde, and as such, they would be unable to create a powerful enough Magisphere with the remaining Magie. Therefore, Kiito proposes that they ignore the larger horde and focus only on fighting the Huge immediately surrounding the Cihuateteo until they can reach it, leaving the remaining swarm in the hands of Odaiba’s other Legions. Maruyama Amane strongly opposes the idea, fearing that ignoring the Huge's army would lead to casualties, however, Momiji decides to stand by Kiito’s strategy, fully trusting Odaiba's Lilies to fight the horde in their stead. Meanwhile, Mayumi watches on as the Lilies ready themselves to battle the Ultra-class, particularly noting that the Cihuateteo had been attracted by Tomoshibi and Sumire’s combined presence.
As Hronesnæsse’s members make their preparations for the battle, Subaru and Asagao summon Yukari and Kozue. Hoping to reaffirm their resolve before facing such a fearsome enemy, the two second years suggest that the four of them take the Blood Oath, in hopes of sharing with the first years the same bond of mutual understanding that they have between themselves. Moved by their heartfelt proposal, Kozue and Yukari agree, and together, the four Lilies take the Blood Oath, with Kozue making her pact with Asagao, while Yukari makes her pact with Subaru.
The Legions begin to depart to the battlefield, with their battle plan centered on closing in on the Cihuateteo in pairs. Sumire suggests that she and Tomoshibi pair up, and as the two of them are about to set off, Kiito whispers something to Tomoshibi in secret. As their battle progresses, Tomoshibi and Sumire end up fully separated from the other Lilies, and recalling Kumi’s advice, Sumire takes aim at Tomoshibi while she her back is turned, however, she hesitates to fire. The pair fully clear the Huge in the area, and noting Sumire to be unusually quiet, Tomoshibi tells her that she had realized her intent to kill her before. Dropping her facade, Sumire immediately begins attacking Tomoshibi, revealing to her it was her mother, Sasara, who arranged her escape from Kuramayama, and telling Tomoshibi that she had been the one to kill her.
Meanwhile, Hronesnæsse and the Saints regroup after succeeding in their takedown of the Small-class Zombies, awaiting Akira’s signal to perform the Neunwelt Tactic. The Lilies note Tomoshibi and Sumire’s absence, and Kiito explains that they’ll be unable to rejoin them due to having their own matters to settle. An irritated Yuzuriha protests this, pointing out that a Neunwelt against an Ultra-class would require the full extent of their members’ Magie, but Kiito assures both of their Legions that Tomoshibi will return, asking them to trust her judgement. The Legions are rejoined by Akira, and after relaying to them a double Neunwelt strategy, she warns the Lilies of the Cihuateteo’s nine tentacles, which are able to sap them of their Magie. Because of this, the two Legions decide to perform each of their Neunwelts out of the Huge’s range, only approaching it for the finishing shots, while Akira takes on the role of destroying the Giant Zombie’s core.
As Sumire and Tomoshibi's duel progresses, Tomoshibi realizes that she still does not fully remember the circumstances of Sasara’s death, and so, she accepts the possibility that she might have been the one to kill her. Laying down her CHARM, Tomoshibi fully surrenders her life in hopes that she’ll be able to make amends with Sasara by granting her daughter’s wish. Seeing this, Sumire is once again overcome with hesitation, still unable to make sense of Tomoshibi’s actions. Kumi reveals herself and impatiently demands that Sumire stop wavering and follow through with their plan. However, she is lethally wounded by Akira, and as she collapses, a consciousness is shown abandoning her body.
In her final moments, Kumi delivers Sumire a pendant that once belonged to Sasara before succumbing to her wound. Sumire is completely distraught at the death of her mentor, and Akira reveals that Kumi had long been possessed by Mayumi, who was the true culprit behind Sasara's murder. Akira further explains that Kumi was actually killed together with Sasara, and that Mayumi had been puppeteering her corpse ever since. Tomoshibi is confused at her reasoning, and Akira tells her that, having taken credit for her awakening as a Princess despite the disaster that befell Kuramayama, Mayumi had manipulated Sumire into undergoing the same Boosting procedure as hers, being implanted with cells from the exact Huge used to boost Tomoshibi so that she'd become a perfect counterpart to her. Akira theorizes that by doing so, Mayumi hoped to be able to prove the validity of her research, and be subsequently allowed to continue it.
Tomoshibi is heartbroken after learning that Sumire had been subjected to the exact same torture that she endured, while Sumire's spirit is left completely broken upon the realization that the suffering she subjected herselt to for the sake of her mother's memory had been in vain. Akira explains that due to possessing the very same Huge DNA, Tomoshibi and Sumire produce a sympathetic resonance that attracts the Huge’s presence, however, their nature as perfect counterparts should also grant them the means to suppress this effect by staying together. Leaving them to decide on their own fates, Akira reminds them of the trust she has on them as Lilies of Odaiba before returning to the battlefield.
Meanwhile, The Saints continue their Neunwelt, relying on Suzuki Chinami’s Laplace in order to stabilize their Magisphere amidst the high Magie Intensity caused by the Ultra-class, while Hronesnæsse begins their Neunwelt without Tomoshibi. Having just begun moving to regroup with the others, Tomoshibi invites Sumire to return to Hronesnæsse with her, but Sumire doesn’t see herself worthy of it, still filled with shame at her deception. As they speak, the pair is approached by Mayumi, who promptly takes to mocking both of them.
Mayumi once again torments Tomoshibi for having killed her and the Kuramayama researchers, and argues that even if she wasn’t the one to do it, Sasara’s death was still caused by her, telling Sumire that her reasons for killing her are still valid. Sumire, however, refuses to comply with her demands to kill Tomoshibi, and losing her patience, Mayumi decides to dispose of Tomoshibi herself. Enraged, Sumire raises her CHARM against Mayumi, and together with Tomoshibi, begins fighting the Instructor. Sumire is briefly knocked down, and as Tomoshibi helps her up, the pair’s Magie fully resonates as their hands touch, causing Mayumi to be overcome with joy as she witnesses her research bearing fruit. With this ability, Tomoshibi and Sumire successfully overpower Mayumi, and as the Instructor is cornered by the pair, she excitedly remarks that Ms. Nadeshiko would certainly acknowledge her research now that it had produced results, before her consciousness leaves her body.
Exhausted, Sumire falls on the floor and apologizing to Tomoshibi, she shows her Sasara’s pendant. It carries a photo of hers’ that was taken by Kumi, which she states was taken while the two of them were looking up to the skies together. Sumire tells Tomoshibi of how much it weighed on her mother’s soul to watch the smiles of her test subjects gradually fade away, but that she would always speak of one Lily who “never lost the glimmer of hope in her eyes”, and that she hoped they could one day join them in admiring the beautiful blue sky. Now understanding that she was speaking of Tomoshibi, Sumire expresses her hope that the two of them can one day look up to the skies together, with Tomoshibi sharing her sentiment
Final Battle
[edit | edit source]Hronesnæsse and the Saints regroup to discuss how to continue with their Neunwelts’ final passes while approaching the Cihuateteo. The two Legions agree to split the task of neutralizing its tentacles between themselves, and with each Legion being charged with taking down four of them, Amane and Yuki volunteer to destroy the final tentacle on their own. As they resume their Neunwelts, Yukari is hesitant to continue charging the Magisphere without Tomoshibi’s Laplace to stabilize it, but Yuki urges her to continue, noting how both Ui and Kiito are sparing no effort in their fighting, she encourages her to share their belief that Tomoshibi will return.
Though the two Legions are successful in destroying the Cihuateteo’s tentacles, they grow increasingly exhausted as they do so. The Saints are able to complete their Magisphere, but Hronesnæsse struggles with fully taking control of theirs. Finally, Tomoshibi and Sumire regroup with the rest of Hronesnæsse, and after utilizing the power of their resonance to destroy the final tentacle, Tomoshibi uses her Laplace to stabilize her Legion’s Magisphere and revitalize her teammates, finally allowing them to make their final passes and complete their Magisphere. Kiito and Momiji both take their finishing shots simultaneously, and as the Cihuateteo is consumed by the blast, the Giant Zombie’s core is fully exposed, allowing Akira to swiftly destroy it.
Epilogue
[edit | edit source]Kiito stops Sumire as she attempts to leave Odaiba by herself. Though Sumire is incredibly apologetic, Kiito asks that she stay, telling her that she had earned her place with Hronesnæsse. The two are joined by Ui, Momiji, Yuzuriha and Tomoshibi, and Sumire once again attempts to explain herself, but Tomoshibi tells her that they understand her circumstances, with all Lilies being equally hopeful that she stays in Odaiba. Grateful, Sumire agrees to stay, now formally joining Hronesnæsse as a sub-member.
Soon after, Asagao relays to all of Odaiba the news that four smaller Nests have been discovered in the vicinity of Izu Oshima, and as such they now fear the formation of a Death Zone in the area should they continue to grow. And so, the Inter-Garden Board Justify declared the formation of the Multi-Garden Izu Oshima Nest Survey Team, tasked with investigating the Nests as well as the local GEHENA research facility. Kiito is placed as the team’s captain, and joined by Ui and Tomoshibi, they prepare for their departure as Odaiba Girls’ School’s formal representatives on the mission.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- During their first meeting with Sumire, Yuzuriha compares Ui to a Hannya (般若) as she protests Sumire’s choice to join Hronesnæsse. The Hannya is a mask used in traditional Japanese Noh theater, where the different masks worn by the characters act as indicators of their physical and mental states of being. Notably, the Hannya mask symbolizes a woman who, fully overtaken by her jealousy, completely transforms into a demon.
- In the play's many flashback sequences, all Lilies are portrayed wielding a Dainsleif with the exception of Yuki, who wields a Gungnir.
- Notably, during Kiito and Tomoshibi's duel, Kiito switches to a Dainsleif for their rematch after using her Jötunn-Schwert during their first round.
- Tomoshibi remarks that Kiito was the very first Lily who made her utilize her Regenerator.
- Kiito reveals that she briefly stayed at Ambrosia during her time away from Odaiba.
